“You know my opinion on rumors?” he said a minute later… “That they’re started by haters. Spread by fools. And accepted by idiots.”
My head tipped. “Are you calling me an idiot?”
His eyes flashed. “Are you calling me a manwhore?”
“You need a way to burn off some extra energy, I’ll work up a plan…”
“Would this plan have anything to do with you and me horizontal in my bed?”
… “Archer,” I said in warning while I filled his water bottle.”
“Fine, fine… You and me vertical up against my hotel shower wall?”
“Why a date?” I asked… “It isn’t like you have to woo me or anything. We kind of plowed through the normal steps of relationship progression.”
A goofy grin spread on his face… “And what if I want to ‘woo’ you?”
“And what if I’m not the kind of girl who wants to be wooed?”
“You don’t have to be into jewelry and movie dates to be wooed. You’re special. I want to show you that. I want to prove that to you.”
- Luke Archer has three younger sisters. This means that Luke has lived and breathed females nearly his whole life. He knows we get hormonal, have very long memories and in general, can be a pain in the ass. Less training needed.
- Luke Archer has seen what true love looks like. Luke’s parents shared a deep and emotional connection. They did not hide it from their kids. This gives Luke something to aim for. He might mistakenly look in the wrong direction at first, but eventually he’ll recognise the real deal.
- Luke Archer has experienced great loss. Luke’s learnt to make the most of every situation and not waste time on the bad stuff. This also means he’ll fight for what he believes in.
- Luke Archer does not expect handouts. He works bloody hard to be the best on the field. He doesn’t want the perks involved with his career just a fair salary and good teammates. This means that the fame and fortune haven't gone to his head. He’s down to earth and doesn’t get his head turned by the pretties.
We’d both been burned to the marrow in our own ways, yet risen above the ashes to find each other.
Someone who understands the game. The commitment. The time. The sacrifice. Someone who's as committed to it as you are. When Allie is first approached by the famed #11, Luke Archer, she’s startled he’s noticed her at all and she’s wary of his flirtations. Allie prides herself on her professionalism and falling into bed with Archer could mean the end of her hard fought career. Plus Allie’s not one for the casual relationships and the star of the Shock has to have left a trail of women behind him, right? Allie’s resistance to Archer is futile, he’s charming, funny, and persistent.
Luke Archer hasn’t been able to get Allie off his mind. Ever since he first noticed the petite blonde added to the team’s staff, he’s been trying to decide on the best time to make his move. When he finally sees his opening he’s takes it, his opening line was a bit cheesy but it definitely got him in the door. Luke quickly decides Allie’s just the kind of girl he’s looking for so he goes into full on pursuit mode.
Someone would have to be the world's biggest fool to look at you and not want everything, Allie.Living in the public eye, Luke’s learned to keep a lot of himself hidden and he protects personal events from his past. These hidden parts of Luke start to play on Allie’s deeply rooted trust issues and threaten to tear the couple apart.
Luke and Allie were a good fit for one another, the lifestyle they lived wasn’t conducive to a lot of people with the constant traveling, it made dating hard. The author did a wonderful job of materializing these characters and the arduous life they lead. While I definitely thought Allie’s trust issues were warranted, she’d been burned in the past, I think she definitely could have handled things with Archer better. I was a bit disappointed in Allie and it ultimately ended up being a shining moment for Luke. I kind of really loved Luke Archer. He was adorable, funny, kind, humble, and wildly talented.
If you need any more time than I do to strip, I'll wait semi-patiently. Dick in hand. Thinking about dick in you.If you’re looking for a sports romance with a bit of angst and a smoking hot baseball player check this one out!
“You know how this game works. I know how.”
He paused, letting that settle in the space between us. “You just have to decide if you want to play.”
“Because you have decided?” His bat pressed deeper into my back, drawing me impossibly closer to his body. His arousal settled hard into the side of my stomach. “Doc, I’m already playing.”
There was a reason players didn't steal home anymore. It was next to impossible to do. That was the reason Luke wanted to do it so badly. He didn't believe in impossible. He didn't let the odds scare him. He didn't let the fear of alling keep him from trying.
Sometimes the only way to know if you're ready is to take the leap.
Somewhere along life's journey, I'd lost the essence of love. The simplicity of it had been lost, hidden by conditions, masked by doubt, veiled by qualifiers
Luke Archer was so much more than a player setting batting records. So much more than skilled lover. So much more.
This was what I'd been worried about with us. Or one of the things I'd been worried about. That I'd let my feelings for him get in the way of doing my job.
Believing in the bad was so much easier than clinging to the good. My past had reared its ugly head and sabotaged a great relationship because of a failed one. I'd let my fear feed my insecurities until all it had taken was one drunken lie from one spineless man to ruin it all
…sometimes you had to fight for the things you wanted. Sometimes you had to steal the life you wanted before fate realized you were coming. I'd stolen home too, and it was one for the record books.
“Never underestimate the ingenuity of a desperate man.”
“Was a few weeks or months of wild abandon with Archer worth the risk of losing all my credibility.”
“This is baseball. It’s a boys’ club. The only cunts allowed in are the ones who know how to spread ‘em and bed ‘em.”
“It’s a good thing he’s so good at baseball, because that’s the only game Luke’s got.”
“Never tell me the odds.”
